God's Justice - Highlights

(Romans 2:1-12; 8/5/18; Pas. Baines, Jr.)

Introduction: A key idea in today’s Sunday School material is that without Christ, all of humanity is doomed to God’s wrath. Prayerfully, we will be challenged to line up with God’s will for our lives, instead of judging one another about how sinful we are.

Body:

Read Romans 2:1-4

I. Human Judge. Paul’s major argument is that all of humanity are sinners. No one can say of another that they are sinners, but I am not. God’s grace towards sinners is aimed at them repenting of their sins.

Applications –

- Who are we to condemn? Notice in vss.  1-3 that none of us can condemn sinners without condemning ourselves.

Read Romans 2:5-12

II. Heavenly Judge. Paul talks about how stubbornness and unrepentant hearts lead to God’s wrath and judgment. Those who live in line with God’s will are on their way to eternal life.

Those who are not living in line with God’s will are on their way to God’s wrath. God is no favor of person in this regard.

Applications –

- The wrong choice. Notice in vs. 5, 8-9, 12 that stubbornness and an unrepentant heart leads to God’s wrath.

-  Good works. Notice in vss. 6-7, 10-11 that we will essentially reap what we have sown.

- It’s all about Jesus. Notice in vss. 9-12 the mention of Jews and Gentiles.

Conclusion: Let’s work on lining up with God’s will for our lives, instead of judging one another about how sinful we are. God has much for those who obey His will.
