Imitate Christ

Read Philippians 2:1-4

I. Exhortation to Selflessness.  

Applications –

- God’s goodness towards us. Notice in vs. 1 that Paul mentions how good God has been......This kind of living should be noted for joy and obedience. 

- Selfish ambition and vain conceit. Notice in vs. 3 that Paul urges his readers to avoid selfish ambition and vain conceit...... Let’s work on avoiding selfish ambition and vain conceit. 

- Valuing others above one’s self. Notice in vss. 3-4 the call to humbly value others above one’s self......Let’s seek the wisdom and energy to do God’s will with humility. 

Read Philippians 2:5-11 

II. Revelation of Selflessness. 

Applications –

- The mindset of Christ. Notice in vss. 5-8 that the readers are called to be governed by the mindset that was seen in Christ......Let’s work on being governed by the mindset that was seen in Christ

- God’s care. Notice in vss. 9-11 that the Father resurrected the Son and made it so that every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord...... Let’s live like we trust God to take care of us. 

Conclusion: Lets’ work on being governed by the mindset of Christ, as we strive to get along with one another. God has much for those who obey His will.
