Presence of God: Are You Conscious of the Presence of God?

The presence of God is a reference to being conscious of God being where you are. God is everywhere at the same time. However, sometimes we are not conscious of God being with us.

A key idea in this series of devotionals, "Praise God Anyhow," based on II Samuel 6:12-16, 20-23, is that "We should be mindful of praise, despising, and determination."

In this devotional, let's focus on being in the presence of God. When the Ark of God was being brought to Jerusalem, David danced with rejoicing in his heart. David was excited about being where God was.

It is an awesome thought to be where God is. God is the creator of the whole universe (see Gen. 1:1). God created the sun, moons, planets, and galaxies. God created the animals, plants, oceans, and continents. God created the human heart, brain, and soul.

God is the sustainer of the universe. God keeps the sun shining and the heavenly bodies from running to into one another. God makes sure that autumn follows summer and summer follows spring. God keeps our hearts beating, lungs breathing, and minds stayed on Him (most of the time - smile).

God is the hope for the universe. We hope in God, because the stock market cannot be trusted. We hope in God, because family and loved ones can let us down. We trust in God, because even our own health and obedience to our faith are subject to failure.

Prayer

God I praise You for being the creator, sustainer, and hope of all creation. Thank You for showering seen and unseen blessings into the lives of my loved ones and into my life. Thank You for being much better to us than we deserve.

I confess my many sins to You, including my taking Your awesome presence for granted. Please forgive me and help me to grow in this area. Help me to be what You are calling me to be. Have Your way in my life, because Your way is best for me. Thank You, in Jesus' name. Amen.
