Do you have trouble staying focused on living by God’s will? (Click here for articles on staying focused) Does it seem like every time you try to be still to read the Bible and pray that something comes up to distract you?
The problem may very well be the devil. Our text teaches us that the devil is our enemy. He is prowling around like a lion looking for someone to devour.
Whatever pleasure we get out of doing what the devil wants us to do is ultimately a deadly trap for us. The devil is never our friend. He is our deadly enemy.
Think about how a friend would not try to distract you from hearing and living by God’s life giving word, but the devil will. A friend would not try to get you to drink delicious poison (i.e., sin), but the devil will.
Make this the day that you behave as if the devil is really your deadly enemy.
Thank You for Your grace. I have fallen prey to the devil too many times. But You keep on giving me another chance.
Please help me to stay focused on doing Your will, instead of drifting off into the devil’s deadly tricks. In Jesus’ name, amen.
